I am a fully Accredited Play Therapist (PTUK/PTI), and I received my Master’s Degree in Practice-based Play Therapy from Christ Church Canterbury University (UK). I also hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching Art and Design in addition to a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology and Art. Before training as a play therapist, I worked as an art teacher.

I have worked in schools for children with learning disabilities as well as mainstream schools, both in the UK and Botswana. Whilst living in Bermuda, I have volunteered and worked for charities focused on empowering children. Through my clinical practice, I have worked with children from diverse backgrounds with complex emotional needs. I have extensive involvement in working, with children who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma and loss.

I use therapeutic play to empower children with better social integration, personal growth and development, emotional modulation and, trauma resolution.

Through play therapy, I help children to understand and process their feelings and past experiences.

I use a non-directive and child-led process, allowing each child to explore their feelings in a safe space, in their own way, at their own pace.

Art materials, musical instruments, puppets, dressing-up items, sand trays and oodles of toys are available to encourage every child to develop a stronger understanding of self. Play therapy offers containment for each child’s intense emotional needs and concerns whilst building self-esteem.

I am the founder of Creative Rumpus, and I can now provide creative play therapy as part of Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation. Play therapy can be offered in my welcoming private practice playroom, at Kaleidoscope premises or in the child’s school.

I am on the Register of Play and Creative Arts Therapists, which has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.http://www.playtherapyregister.org.uk

The PSA scheme was set up by the UK Government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public in general and, in this case, children in particular. My accreditation demonstrates my commitment to high professional standards, enhancing safety and delivering a better service. Registration to the PSA scheme is voluntary for organisations to join.

I am ‘Stewards of Children’ certified (SCARS training), with full police checks for both Bermuda and the UK (Criminal Records Bureau enhanced).
